A dash is a punctuation mark that is used to separate or emphasize information within a sentence. It is longer than a hyphen and can be used in place of commas, parentheses, or colons to create a pause or break in the sentence. Dashes can add emphasis, provide additional information, or set off a phrase for clarity or emphasis. **

When using apposition, both commas and dashes can be used to set off the appositive phrase. Commas are more commonly used and create a lighter separation between the appositive and the rest of the sentence. Dashes, on the other hand, create a stronger break and can be used for emphasis or to draw attention to the appositive. Ultimately, the choice between comma and dash depends on the writer's preference and the desired tone of the sentence. **

The internet connection may drop when incoming calls occur because the phone line is being used to receive the call, which can interfere with the internet connection if they share the same line. This is a common issue with traditional DSL connections, where the phone line is used for both voice calls and internet data. When a call comes in, the phone line is temporarily occupied, causing the internet connection to drop. However, with newer technologies like fiber optic and cable internet, this issue is less common as they use separate lines for voice and data. **
